Served in South African War, 1902, with 3rd Vol. Services Coy., attached to 2nd Bn., The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders). Took part in operations in Grange River Colony (Queen's Medal, with three clasps). Still serving in the 5th Vol. Bn., The Black Watch
