“Another Alyth War Victim”
Mr. J.W.Howe, saddler, received on Saturday a letter from Corporal Duffy, 1st Royal Scots, dated 12th May, asking him to communicate to Mrs. Henderson that her son, Lance-Corporal Tom Henderson, had been killed in action on previous day. The writer states he died “full of courage, fighting until he was hit, and his end was swift and painless.” Every other Alythonian was as hard and fit as possible. Lance-Corporal Henderson, who is Alyth’s ninth victim of the War, came home with the Indian Contingency, after six years service, and before enlisting was a plumber with Mr. William Templeman, Alyth.
