Thomas died, after seven weeks, in a military hospital in the south-west of Scotland. he had been thought to be recovering well when he had a relapse and died.
Originally from Kirkcaldy in Fife, he lived with his family in Dundee, and seven years ago, had moved to Rattray. He worked at various places in the area, and was for some considerable time, a waiter in the Angus Hotel in Blairgowrie.
He joined the Black Watch in November 1939, and transferred to the Pioneer Corps.
He was survived by his widow, a son (in the Black Watch), and a daughter (in the W.A.A.F.S.).
