Extra information :- Sadly, like his older brother James, John was reported missing, before being presumed dead. At that time he was believed to have drowned.
Prior to the war John was a member of the Blairgowrie Company of the Black Watch Territorials, and was called up at the start of hostilities. He was a member of the B.E.F. and was evacuated from Dunkirk.
In peacetime John was a bricklayer, having served his apprenticeship with J. & A. Bruce of Blairgowrie, and later worked in Alyth, and with J.B. Stewart & Sons of Coupar Angus.
He married Grace Welsh in February 1944, just a few months before he died.
