Here there is mention of a Pte. William Phillips, of Blairgowrie. Enlisted 1894. Served in Campaign on North-West Frontier of India (with Tirah Expeditionary Force), 1897 - 1898. Wounded at Lozaka pass, Nov 29, 1897 (medal, with clasps "Punjaub Frontier, 1897 - 8," and "Tirah,1897-8"). Served also in South African War, 1899 - 1902 (Queen's medal, with clasps "Tugela Heights," " Relief of Ladysmith," "Cape Colony," and "Transvaal"; King's medal, with clasps "South Africa, 1901," and "South Africa 1902").

Confirmation granted at Perth, 26 February, to Rachel Templeton or Phillips, his widow, Invermay aforesaid, Charles Templeman, Medical Officer of Health, Dundee, and William M'Intyre Crooks, manager, Dundee Eastern Co-operative Society there, Executors nominated in Will and Deed, dated 2 October 1912, and recorded with other Writs in Court Books of Commissariot of Perth, 19 February 1915. Value of Estate, £5636, 9s. 5d.
